cooking with the sun

For inquiry we were making an oven only out of a box tin foil and black paper we first had a big box then we had a cutter to cut it out we first  cut the card board and cut it out  into a squire and put tin foil on the top of the card board and clue it on then we got piece of black paper and put in on the bottom but we didn’t clue it on we taped it on then we got plastic and put it under the foil.

After that Urmi put chocolate in the box and put it in the sun and then a week after we did that the chocolate melted on the cookie and we got to eat it but I didn’t have one because I didn’t want one.

Have you made a solar oven before?

Monday – mashup

What I did for Monday mashup I was working with Nevaeh and pearl was doing stop motion we firstly started making planets with clay I was making the moon and earth I first did the moon and was making it round I was rolling it with my hand to make it as a round ball when I was done with the moon I didn’t know what to do next then made an earth I did the same thing I rolled it with my hands but made the earth bigger then the moon the I looked and my moon and it didn’t have any holes so I did hole with a pencil the it looked more like a moon.

After that pearl was making aliens and Nevaeh they first started with the body and the legs after they started making cloths after they made the head but It looked more like a human so urmi our teacher told pearl to make pointy ears to make it look like a alien.

Then we finished then let it dry for a week then started colouring it with colouring pen I coloured the moon and Mars I coloured the moon grey and black and Mars red and black Nevaeh was colouring the earth green and blue then pearl started colouring the earth.

After colouring we were going to do a stop motion like a movie  but with figures

What did you like about it?.

Living springs camp.

Last week we went to the living spring for 3 days 2 nights. my favourite activity was archery tag because it was the most fun activity I did because I liked pulling the string to my cheek and then letting it go and watch it fly in the air  I was hoping to get someone but I never did I got scared at doing it at first but I got used to it and did it anyways because  my friend helped me have my confidence but I didn’t really understand how the game goes so when I was reloading my bow and arrow the I got hit with another one then my friend got shot after I got hit but sadly our team lost that round.

Have you ever played archery tag.?

Have you ever went camping at living springs?.

Have you ever slept in a cabin?.

Have you ever went swimming at night?.

EPRO8 Term 2

We made a rowing machine.

I worked with Olivia, Aily, and Mia.

A challenge was who could make their rowing machine first. We were second.

A success was we finished our rowing machine and it worked. Mahalia said it was so much easier than theirs. It made me feel good.

I would work in my team again because we work well together as a team.

Rapaki Marae

From Thursday 22nd – Friday 23rd August we stayed at Rāpaki Marae. When we arrived we were formally welcomed in a ceremony called a pōwhiri.

Matua Issac talked about the special artworks, carvings and tukutuku panels in the wharenui. He also told us about how to be respectful of marae tikanga, like not wearing shoes or taking food into the wharenui.

We did lots of activities such as walking to the beach, weaving, drawing the ancestors on the pou, making rākau and singing waiata.

My favourite part of the noho marae was sleeping because Urmi rubbed my back.

Something I learnt while at the marae was I was learning about drawing the pou.

The RISE value I showed the most was Integrity because I was listening to Urmi  because I did not want to go home

I would like to go back to the marae because is was so fun I loved finding crabs at the beach and it was a sunny day.
